"I don't feel the sister who dealt with my son in the urgent care centre should be in paediatrics"

About: Blackpool Victoria Hospital / Paediatrics

(as a carer),

I brought my son into the urgent care centre at the Vic and he was admitted through A+E. I felt the sister on the paediatric area who dealt with my son was awful! In my opinion, her attitude was abysmal and left alot to be desired!! She did not once try to communicate with my son and all the time she came in, she was looking out of the room seemingly uninterested in my poorly little 10month old boy.

My son was crying all the time she was trying to shove a spO2 monitor on his finger and wondered why he was pulling away....... ?!

I was very disappointed with the way she cared for my son, and I feel that she certainly shouldn't be in paediatrics!

Dear nurse1

We are extremely sorry that your experience was not what was expected of the Accident and Emergency Department ( A&E ) . We would appreciate the opportunity to learn from this incident and respectfully request you contact PALS (01253 655589). The A&E Management team would like to assure you that this would be dealt with in confidence.

Many thanks
