"I can't believe any nurse would treat my sister like they did"

My sister was admitted to ward 27 following problems related to an alcohol problem she has been striving to overcome for some time. She was vomiting blood and was initially admitted to the assessment unit then transferred to ward 27.
Due to what I would consider to be appalling treatment by some of the nurses she ended up self discharging. It was felt by family members visiting that the majority of nurses on the ward viewed her as beneath contempt. She was ignored by staff when she requested to get a shower and use the toilet. She was passed by when the meals came around. As a family member I can tell you this is heartbreaking and frustrating, to see a member of your family treated like this.
My sister is currently receiving treatment in another hospital, where the staff are "magic" (in her words).
As a professional in the Health Care Sector myself, I find it outrageous and appalling that the nurses that should have been caring for my sister treated her in this way. I don't feel that a nursing role is in any way right for them as it is supposed to be a caring, non judgemental profession, and in my opinion, professionals they are not.
Heaven forbid these nurses have a friend or a member of their family that falls foul to an addiction because if they rely on nurses like these to get them through it, I’m afraid I believe all will be lost for them.
Once she is stronger we intend to have this matter fully investigated and those involved, including those that seemed to condone it, will be dealt with accordingly.
My fears are that should she require emergency treatment in the future, the effects this mistreatment has had on her will prevent her from seeking help and that this could result in loss of life of a much loved member of our family.
