For several years, I have gone every 6 months for diabetic checks at the Diabetic Clinic at the Hallamshire Hospital etc. On the last visit, I was told that now it will be only be once a year, despite the fact that diabetes is a progressive disease. I think this could be because they cannot cope with the increasing number of people.
Attendance at this clinic is very time consuming event, despite being given a time to attend, i normally sit waiting in a corridor for at least an hour before seeing a doctor then to another dept to wait again with a room full of people.
On as recent visit to the Northern General Hospital for a sprained ankle, I was there for 5 hours. I had to be given food, due to diabetc condition whilst waiting. I got the impression that the dept was understaffed.
My Gp Surgery is great, no complaints at all but Hospitals... wait, wait, wait!!!!
