What I liked
From the moment I entered the care of the staff at Derriford Hospital I was kept updated as to what was going to be happening as regards my Hip Replacement Op. Everything went very smoothly right throughout, the staff of all departments involved giving 100% plus in my post op care. They all do a wonderful job and I have nothing but praise for them. Am actually looking forward to my next visit to Stannon Ward (E4- keep my bedspace) when I have my knee replacement.
What could be improved
Did'nt like the cancellation of my op on New Years Eve but soon was given a new date. This must cause an administrative nightmare in re-scheduling ops besides playing mind games with the patient on the receiving end of a cancellation. These cancellations I am advised do have a profound effect on Ward Budgets as you need same nos of staff basically whether you have six in a ward or two.AdministrationCancellationsHip replacementKnee replacementPatient care
