Last week I had a hysterectomy at Tameside hospital and cannot express the kindness and care I was given by all the staff. Even before my operation, the prep staff were jovial and it definitely helped ease any pre-op nerves. Unfortunately, i had a difficult time when i can out of theatre and spent hours in recovery as the staff tried desperately to control my pain. I have ulcerative colitis and I think my sensitive bowel was disturbed during the surgery, which probably explains the pain; the whole team were so reassuring and dedicated to my care. This, then, continued throughout my stay at the hospital. Staff would actually come and ask me how I was feeling regularly and this was a complete revelation for me as I had only ever had operations at the Manchester Royal Infirmary.
I feel guilty that i cannot remember the names of the staff involved, as I think they should be commended for such good care. If i had paid privately for the surgery it couldn't have beaten Tameside Hospital. If I am being honest, I found the six operations at the Royal Infirmary horrific! I felt the staff who cared for me ignored me all day. I feel so sorry for the slating Tameside Hospital gets in the news. It must be so disheartening for these dedicated staff. The hospital was spotlessly clean and amazing, whereas I found the Royal Infirmary filthy and I felt ignored! So again, a big thank you to everyone; you are doing an excellent job and there are countless people who appreciate it x
