"Thanks for turning my life around"

About: City Health Care Partnership CIC / Why Weight?

(as the patient),

In April 2010 I was diagosed Type 2 Diabetic which came as a massive shock to me, but if I can also say, not a suprise.

Three years ago my job changed and I went from working shifts with 90 other guys to working days by myself, at first the thought of coming off 'Dreaded' shift work seemed brilliant, but working by myself I found that I was so tired at the end of the day I just didn't want to do anything but go home and fall asleep on the sofa......the beginings of 'The Couch Potato'.

My normal day on shifts would be...6 to 2..... go to work.......2.30 go to the Gym for a couple of hours then home for tea and then get on with any jobs 'THE BOSS' might want doing or in summer I would 'Play' in the garden until bedtime. On a 2 to 10 shift I would go to the Gym at about 7am for a couple of hours then home to do whatever 'She who must be obeyed' wanted. But through over work and long hours the gym went by the wayside and my 'Backside' got bigger.

In three years I put over 3 stones on and I knew it (even though I wouldn't lookin the mirror) my clothes told me and the fact that I had to carry a safety pin around with me because my trousers would 'POP' nearly every time I sat down, I knew I needed to do something but just couldn't be bothered.

Then through a series of events (too long to go in to) I found that I had Diabetis. The Doctor explained everything to me and that my massive 17st 6lbs wasn't helping my condition so I would have to loose weight. I knew it was a Catch22 situation I was too heavy and unfit to exersise but needed to exersise to loose the weight so I thought I should Diet first then attack the the gym. I found it really difficult and was disapointed at the rate I was loosing it although I was dropping the pounds I just wasn't motivated. Then I Heard of 'Whyweight' on the radio, I rang to get more info and a couple of weeks later I was on the course. Week 1 came and I turned up not knowing what to expect......the weigh in told me I was 16st 8and a half pounds so I had lost almost a stone in 4 months. the second week came and I was down 3lbs, not bad I thought, its going in the right direction, Sue and Raffi were fantastic they made each week a pleasure to go and the things we learnt over the week has helped me so much. over the 12 weeks the pounds fell off me at a steady rate and through their teaching I know they wont be going back on again. I lost a total of 1st 13lbs (12.1kilos) on the course and am still dropping now and its all thanks to Sue, Raffi and Why Weight.

I cant thank you enough for putting me back on track and at my last Diabetis Check up my Doctor was amazed at my figures to the point that he said "if I carry on as I am I could be off the medication by the end of the year".

Thank you once again, words cannot say how grateful I am but I am.
