"An excellent level of overall care..."

About: The Princess Royal Hospital (Telford)

What I liked

Considering that my stay in ward 12 was at an extremely busy time (Jan 11-18th) I have to say that the overall care was excellent. My admission to MAU was sympathetic and caring and whilst there I experienced acts of kindess shown to other patients by nurses.

In ward 12 there was an excellent level of care, you have some very hard working and dedicated male and female nurses. Other patients with social and dependency problems were treated with great respect.

I was indebted to the Consultant who came to see at 6.00pm and was reassuring and positive.

The sister in charge was helpful and supportive.

The general standard of cleanliness was excellent and whilst there an impressive 'deep clean' took place, cleaning staff were helpful.

The food was of a consistent standard and the choices were good and the food served hot. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Overall my experience of staying in hospital has left me reassured at the quality of care shown. Thankyou

What could be improved

If anything I felt there was sometimes a breakdown in consistency of care by doctors. It was difficult if one doctor ordered tests one day and the next day a different doctor would change this and diagnose something else. I did have to wait for an ultrasound scan ordered for Friday 14th Jan and didn't get one until Tuesday 18th Jan.AdmissionsCleanlinessConsiderateDedicatedFoodPatient careReassuringTemperatureConsultantsNursing staffRadiologyDoctors

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide comments about your care on Ward 12.

We aim to provide the highest standards of care every time for every patient, and we are pleased to hear that your experience matched our aspirations. We are always incredibly grateful when patients take the trouble to let us know about their experience of our hospital, and it is very helpful to hear about the areas where you felt that improvement could be made such as the delay in receiving your ultrasound scan.

We have passed a copy of your feedback to staff on Ward 12.

If you think that any particular member of staff - or the whole team - deserves special praise and recognition then please consider nominating them for the Chairman's Award. This special award is presented every two months at the Trust Board meeting. It celebrates members of staff who go above and beyond what is expected of them to provide high standards of care for patients, or improve the working lives of their colleagues. More information is available from our website at http://www.sath.nhs.uk/about/chairmansaward.asp

Please note that NHS Choices does not share your contact details with the Trust so we are not able to contact you direct.

Thanks again for your feedback.
