"Complete Lack of follow up care for patient in extreme pain"

Following a dental extraction my girlfriend suffered what is known as a dry socket where the alveolus fails to heal.
After 3 days a second visit to the dentist was made where the socket was redressed, packed and antibiotics given. Two days later pain was increasing. NHS direct were helpful and sympathetic.
A visit to an emergency dentist was arranged - socket flushed and repacked and totaly different advive given.
Today after 5 nights of COMPLETE lack of sleep due to severe pain when laying down, a visit to two dentists and a GP all giving conflicting advice still in excruciating pain, 10 days on maximum doses of iboprofen and cocodamol plus 2 courses amoxycillin - latter given by one dentist but doctor said shouldnt take them! 3 hours on the phone to dentist, Leeds dental hospital, LGI St James even the British Dental Association... we feel repeatedly fobbed off and told to take more painkillers when exceeded max doses on data sheets.
About to go to A&E and demand some treatment or referral to a pain specialist. Several days lost work so far and probably more to come. Legal advice to be sought. We feel this is a totally appalling lack of care and consistent advice. Unfortunately, in this case it seems the dental service in Leeds is non-existant.
