"I am pleased I chose Addenbrookes"

I chose to have a hysterectomy and pelvic floor repair operation at Addenbrookes Hospital, and how glad I am that I did so.

Before the operation I had several test and during this time I was treated with care and dignity, which made me feel confident. I met my surgeon Rhona Kearney, who explained the details of the procedure to me in terms I could understand. She is very kind and sympathetic.

The day of my surgery I was admitted to the day surgery unit, where I was again reassured by Ms Kearney, and I met my anaesthetist who discussed the procedure with me. Everyone there was very efficient and reassuring. The operation was successful, and I was admitted to ward L4, where the kindness of the staff was brilliant. Ms Kearney and her team visited me to check on my recovery.

The night after my operation was busy with emergency admissions and therefore I expected to receive less attention. This was not the case. The nursing staff performed their duties on time and always with a cheerful smile. The following day a member of Ms Kearney's team checked on my progress. I was discharged the following day, after been given advice by my surgeon and a physiotherapist.

The whole experience was an extremely positive one. The nurses on L4 were very kind and professional, and pain relief was given when I needed it. The food was of a very high standard and served by cheerful and pleasant staff.

My friends are amazed at my fast recovery and this I put down to my treatment at Addenbrookes. I am so glad that I used the Book and Choose scheme to be treated at Addenbrookes. My grateful thanks to all concerned.
