"Like a child in a head masters office in..."

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske)

What I liked

My son has been under the ENT specialist and sleep apnea for about a year now. The sleep apnea lady has been brillant but the ENT specialist has been rubbish.

my concerns have been about my sons congestion and everytime the ENT department look at his ears mainly which i have no concerns about. After my last visit to the sleep apnea we wasn't happy that nothing was being done by the ENT specialist so she put in a request for another ENT specialist to see my son. A week before seeing the new specialist i had to go back and asee the old one of whom wanted to sign my son off, I told him thats fine cos in a week i have an appointment to see another dr, he then got rude, sarcastic and his tone of his voice deepen telling me that booking in with another specialist it has complicated things, how i dont know as if he was doing his job properly then he would have nothing to worry about. He sent my son to have an x-ray done after telling me that as his touncils are small so will his nasal pulps be but he will do the x-ray to prove it.

The x-ray showed my son has hardly no air way as his nasal pulps are very enlarged, which he kept saying is uncommon but my son had Pneumonia 2 x in a yr thats very adnormal but happened, these drs need to know uncommon things happen and need to check this out properly before getting rude and signing people off as my son has suffered because its taken for me to get a second oponion for them to actually look into my son properly and this shouldnt be the case.

I felt as if i was a child in the head mastes office being told off the way he spoke to me and for what me being right, they see my son all of 5 mins and think they know it all and dont.

My son now has an operation date for Feb and i am hoping this is done properly if not i will look into taking this to a solicitor. Its no wonder this hospital has a bad name, they dont listen to their paitents or their families. Its discusting the way this dr was towards me.

What could be improved

The manner of the dr could of made alot if differents there was no need to be so rude or sarcastic towards me as all i am doing is looking out for my son health.

The hospital should look into everything not leave out test cos its uncommon for this to be the case as it happens and they need to realise uncommon things does happen and they should treat everyone in the way that anything is possible.

The ENT specialist needs to remember that they are there for ears nose and throat not just the ears of which they only really look at with my son when i said its his congestion not ears.AppointmentsRudeSignsX-rayX-rayConsultantsDoctorsPneumonia
