What I liked
My myeloma treatment began as a private patient of the consultant in May before a stem cell harvest at the National Blood Service at the JR and treatment in the Day Centre at the Churchill culminating in a three week stay in the Haematology Ward at the Churchill where I received high dose chemo and an autologous stem cell transplant.
Throughout my treatment I received not only excellent care but was treated with courtesy, dignity, kindness and where appropriate unfailingly good humour.
The sense of team spirit and everyone from support staff to nurses and doctors working together for the good of patients is very strong in both the day treatment unit and on the Haematology Ward.
I was very pleased with the treatment I received and I met some lovely people albeit in circumstances I would rather not have been in.
