About: QE catering

(as the patient),

I was a patient in the neurosurgery surgical ward for 2 days in early January 2011. On the day I was addmitted there were no meals ordered for me although the staff did find me a sandwich for my evening meal, the bread had very little spread on it, the turkey was dry, there was a scone with no butter only marmalade and a small biscuit.

The day of my surgery I only had an evening meal although the taste was ok but there was so little of it I had to phone home for a sandwich.

The next morning I had weetabix with cold milk a bread roll and jam. The lady in the next bed was given cold milk with porridge floating on top, the ward had no means of heating the milk.

At lunchtime there was no meal for me as I was in theatre when the meals were ordered, the staff found me a meal it was cold grey veg and potatoes with pasta it looked and tasted disghusting. I was lucky the Dr let me go home before I was forced to try and eat it.

The nurses and Drs I saw while I was in there were lovely I couldn't have asked for better care nothing was too much trouble for them. Unfortunately the catering is giving the QE a bad name my uncle complained while in the cancer ward last year. We thought he was being awkward but now we know it is true.

The hospital has a top class name for catering for the millitary, I only hope they get better food than the rest of us did.
