"Discrimination against demetia sufferers"

My mother is a dementia sufferer. She has alzheimers and vascular demetia and she has deteriated to the degree that my sister and myself can no longer cope and feel residential care is now the only option.

It is a very stressful time and funding should be the last thing we should have to worry about but unfortunately because the powers that be have decided that the needs of alzheimers sufferers are quote " social" and not "health" related they are denied what I believe should be fundamentally their right, and that is NHS care at the point of need.

Because of this my sister and I have to spend the last of my mothers small savings on keeping her safe and looked after even though she has a recognised disease. Frankly I think it`s a disgrace.
