What I liked
Absolutely nothing.
What could be improved
My Aunt is in assessment in the Rosemary suite. The actual building is often cold (Heating problems !). The beds only had sheets without blankets until protests were made.
The staff over the Xmas period were totally uncaring.
When we called to collect her on Xmas day were told not possible till after 1.00pm although when it was arranged were told any time. She was dressed in a pair of trousers inside out, slippers and a tee shirt, and this in sub zero temperatures when she had not been outside for 6weeks. Only after strong protests was she dressed for outdoors.
On several occasions she has been drugged to such an extent that she is unable to stand. During the course of Xmas day she improved considerably without the medication which she spat out. I cant accept that there is any excuse for the way she is being treated, and also the lack of information from the staff who seem to be totally UNcaring.
I understand that this is supposed to be an assessment centre, but to what end? It appears that you are keeping her there, heavily sedated, just waiting for her to pass away.
Surely there should be an aim to find an NHS nursing home where the staff might show a modicum of care both in her personal hygiene and feeding.
On several visits it has been obvious that she has not been washed or helped with her clothes.
I would also like to protest at the short visiting periods. at the previous centre (Avonside) visiting was 3 times a day equating to almost 8 hours. I suspect that the reduced hours are to make life even easier for the staff. We were shown a room where drinks could be made today
and she has been there since mid December.
If your centre was a boarding kennel then I certainly wouldn`t send my dog there and she would probably be treated better by a vet.
I look forward to your comments and seeing this published on your website. I do not want to remain anonymous.
Anything else?
Her son and myself had a meeting with staff today which proved to be a total waste of everyone`s time.
They were unable to satisfactorily answer most of the questions and blamed all the shortcomings on the Xmas staff. Surely if they are not caring people then they are in the wrong job.
The doctor who attended did not has the faintest idea of what was going on. and just thumbed through the notes and stuttered out feeble excuses and half thought out answers.
I understand that my aunt will not get better but she does not deserve to be treated as she is at the moment.
We have been promised an appointment with the consultant who might be able to help.
