"What a sad end to a life"

About: Derbyshire County PCT

(as a relative),

My mum has Alzheimer's Disease, she hasn't spoken for over a year, she dosen't know any of her children or grandchildren any more. She is doubly incontinent, needs bathing, dressing and feeding, she is totally reliant on the nursing care she gets in the home she is in. She is also diabetic and has a history of strokes.

The NHS has decided that she doesn't have a primary health need and therefore the care she needs are a social issue and she should fund this care herself, even though it was the NHS that stated she needed to be in the specialist home she is in and were funding her until now!

Alzheimer's is is a disease and all her needs are due to this. If she was suffering from cancer I don't think she would have to sell her house to receive the treatment she needed.

I believe that the NHS is treating one of the most vunerable groups in this country despicably.
