"Today, staff good under challenging..."

About: Royal Bournemouth General Hospital

What I liked

All staff in this department are very professional and friendly.

What could be improved

Today the hospital was let down because they had transferred the staff we usually see from CIU to Ward 22 Bay 1 without making sure the accommodation was suitably furnished and ready to accept patients. It was obvious that they had been dumped into the unused Bay without proper facilities. The two Sisters were very professional by not allowing the circumstances to affect the care given but my husband had to have his chemo injection administered in the toilet because there were no curtains in the bay and no free rooms. This really is not acceptable whether temporary or not. The Bay was obviously still being used as some sort of storage area with linen trolleys being stored and moved and boxes of equipment just left on the floor. This should have been organised properly before the staff were moved.

Anything else?

Having to visit Bournemouth Hospital many times over the years, we have always been impressed with the standards the hospital have. We have had serious issues in the past on a different ward with poor staff training for the particular drug my husband has to have administered, but at the moment we have now managed to overcome that problem..Patient careAccommodationToiletsWardTrolley
