"great staff shocking facilities"

About: Darlington Memorial Hospital

What I liked

the A & E staff are fantastic but were forced to leave an 88 year old man on a trolley in a corridor for two hours because they needed the room for incoming patients. No problem there but why was a transfer to ward 14 not actioned quicker?

What could be improved

Unfortunately due to the volume of patients we attend to, there will be occasions when patients need to wait in the A&E department until a bed becomes available on the admission wards. This may be due to patients waiting to be transferred from the admission ward to the medical wards. On these occasions, patients will wait in A&E until a bed becomes available. We try to ensure the wait in A&E is as short as possible. Sometimes this is not the case, and we apologise for this.
