What I liked
Not a lot. I am writing on behalf of my mother in law who has been in the RPH since October, after being transferred from the Countess of Chester where her treatment was very good..
Since her admission to RPH her treatment has been bordering on neglect. As a family we are at our wits end and we are doing our best to get her home as soon as possible.
After falling twice and banging the back of her head was transferred to another ward were she contracted MRSA, we cannot understand why the website states that there have been no outbreaks of MRSA for 12 plus weeks when my mother in law was diagnosed with it over a month ago. She was put in a side ward and left to her own, food and drink were placed on her table out of reach and taken away uneaten. The staff on this ward are not geared up to look after frail elderly patiants and she should not have been left there for several weeks. She has since been transferred to a medical ward and seems to be improving.
What could be improved
Communication between staff and family members, sometimes it is impossible to speak to anyone who knows what is going on.
Communication between hospital departments in order to avoid mistakes in treatment.
Help with eating and drinking when needed.
Stop moving patients without notice to new wards on sleep outs, they loose contact with their consultants and end up on wards which are not appropriate for their condition. This does not seem to happen in other hospitals .AdmissionsWebsiteCommunicationDrinksFoodWardConsultants
