(as the patient),

I just wanted to thank all the midwives, admin and medical staff at the Ante Unit at St James for making it on on 2 December the day i came for my last scan.

The weather that day was atrocious and i know many of you had to stay overnight the night before at personal expense to ensure the unit kept running.

I have had several scans in the past that have been bad news - so I am always very nervous and apprehensive before a scan - that day I was expecting to arrive and find out that my scan had been cancelled due to the weather (it would have been understandable) but thanks to all your efforts it wasn't.

I just wanted to say how much I appreciated it and how impressed I was with the professionalism shown by the team there - it gives me real confidence that I will be in safe hands later in my pregnancy.

PS. More generally I am very impressed with how well your unit runs - I never have to wait long and it all seems incredibly organised and the staff are always very helpful.

Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience of maternity care at St James's University Hospital. I was pleased to hear of the high standard of professionalism and that your appointment went ahead, despite the bad weather.
