"would not attend again"

About: Harrogate District Hospital

What I liked

i visited the littondale ward after having a hernia operation, i had a spinal aneathetic and therefore could not move for several hours after i came to the ward, on arriving at the ward i was placed in a 6 bedded bay and left, at no point did anyone come to check on me, a jug of water was placed on the patients table which was not in reach and as i could not move i was unable to get the drink. i was not offered any drink or anything to eat at no point until 5 oclock , some 4 hours after i arrived on the ward after not eating since the day before and know that drinking is vital but this did not seem to concern any of the staff, i did not have any observation until my partner noticed i was sweating andlooking unwell upon requesting my temperature to be taken found i had indeed a raised temperature.the kylie was still under me on arrival and the boots on my feet for through the operation had to be removed by my daughter as these too had being left on I requested 8 hrs later when i started to get feeling back in my legs to go home as i did not want to remain on this ward and felt that due to a member of that hospital staff holding a ventetta against me my stay in that hopsital was compromised and felt i was better off out of it. I expect professionalism within this hospital but certainly did not get it.

What could be improved

better care and consideration for patients just out of theatre, the few hrs after are crucial no matter what the operation and since i had medical problems that resulted in me needing a spinal due to the danger of being put to sleep i felt some kind of care after would be appropriate. if it was not for my partner this would of gone undetected.

observations done on arrival as it should be.

kylie still under me from operation
