What I liked
The staff treated me with respect and they asked if a student could be present, who was really helpful. Everything was clean, right down to the shower seat in the bathroom and staff were aware of hygiene.
What could be improved
The A & E team were fantastic but problems started when I got onto the ward (surgical admin). The nurse didn't connect my drip properly, so I had no fluids for 12 hours in the hospital (and for about 12 hours at home beforehand) and considering it was 22oC outside I wasn't best pleased! I then moved wards AGAIN, and they lost my drug chart meaning I had to wait over 5 hours for pain relief, which I finally got at 3 in the morning. Not good.
The staff didn't seem to communicate to each other, was told I could be discharged by one nurse, was told no by another. I realise it's a very busy ward but these are trusted professionals, you need to have confidence in them which I didn't feel I had.
Anything else?
I clicked 'no view' as to recommending it, I had no problem in going there in an emergancy but if I had the choice, I wouldn't pick this hospital.
"Mainly positive but some areas need..."
