"Care so lovely for my Mum"

About: City Health Care Partnership CIC / Minor injuries units

(as a relative),

My Mum hadnt left the house for a week due to the snow and ice. She had hurt her foot a week before this and was taking regular painkillers. I persuaded her to let me take her to the Freedom centre minor injuries. Even though she had hurt her foot 2 weeks before by the time I got her there the Nurse was really lovely to her. He tried to persuade her to see her GP which we couldnt persuade her to as her GP has moved so far away from her now on the middle of an estate and it is a walk then a bus ride then another walk to get there and she felt she wouldnt get an appointment anyway. It all seemed too much effort. As we work we were unable to take her during the day and the roads on the estate were too bad on the night. I was concerened my Mum was getting depressed as this was so unlike my Mum. She felt it was a waste to get a taxi and wouldnt let us pay. However, Paul was really caring and kind to my Mum reassuring her that she did need to be seen by her GP. He even offered to ring and speak to her GP. Mum came away much happier and reassured. She then set to and made an appointment with her GP and is now sorted out. Although I feel maybe we used the service inappropriately we were never made to feel like that and the Nurse was so kind. I am so glad this service is there.
