What I liked

A&E Staff, One of the doctors and a nurse named Elli on Lewes Ward.

What could be improved

Cleanliness. Efficiency of Doctors, being told what was going on with my treatment. Not being asked the same questions over and over again. Keeping some kind of record of previous visits. I had a heart attack in May 2010 and had an Angioplasty in July which did not work. I was admitted again in November and had another stent fitted inside the first one. Unfortunately my angina attacks started getting worse again and I was admitted again in december under advice from the cardiac rehab nurses. This time they gave me an endoscopy to rule out the possibility of the angina being caused by stomach problems. I was originally told they would have to do another Angiogram but after the endoscopy I was told I could go home by a junior doctor. I was still having angina attacks which were mostly at rest, so I asked the doctor what was going to happen. He told me he was not sure as he had only been in the cardiology department for four days and he was told to send me home. He told me to use my GTN spray when I have angina attacks and if it gets worse to come back in. This was not very reassuring as I am still suffering from what I have been told is unstable angina. I have since spoken to my cardiac nurse who was also most surprised by my treatment (Or lack of it). When I was initially admitted to A&E the nurse that was dealing with me suggested I may be suffering from something called "Pericardial Effusion". He said he used to work on the cardiac ward and the results of my ECG suggested this to him. After being transfered to the cardiac dept this was never mentioned again. I am seeing my GP on Monday in the hope of sorting something out.

Anything else?

It appears to me that when in the RSCH Brighton nobody is prepared to take responsibility for the patients care. One is seen by several different doctors and it is up to the patient to know who did what and when. I was asked who fitted my first stent, who fitted the second stent, who was my consultant, etc etc. I did not know as I had been seen by so many people in the four visits concerning my heart attack and I was under stress. All I could tell them was the surgical teams were different.
