"traumatic experience for spouses and..."

About: York Hospital

What I liked

Nothing

What could be improved

My husband was having an operation , on the day unit, when we came to pre asssesment i was told i could sit with him till his operation, so although feeling worried for my hubby not to concerned, Having been a nurse my self i thought how i knew things worked, But NO !!! the receptionis t was very unhelpful and very blase with me and with in seconds my husband was called I went to follow but was told to leave and not come back till i was phoned, This came as a total shock I could not even say goodbye, having been married for thirty years my husband is my rock and he was taken away from me, with no thought for me and how I felt I really feel that the caring proffession has gone mad, where is the care and understanding of the spouses I saw several older women who sat for 6 hours or more just waiting for there other halfs with no support, I havee never been so angry, I did leave for a little while to have a few tears and re group, on returning I was told to get the car, as he was being discharged, and to park at the front with a bit of paper to put on screen so i did not get aticket, on arriving at front of hospital there was no space i asked several ambulance drivers what to do and they said i would get a ticket if i parked at front, and to go to carpark, What was i to do!!!!!!! i parked in a disabled place because i had had enough by now, on arriving on the ward my husband came out to me, having arrived home I then found that he had not been given any dressings or pain killers, because he was not with it, most men do not think in these situations, If i had been allowed to see him before he was discharged i would have been able to ask, Our caring proffession no longer exists and will only get worse please put a stop to it now!!!!

I feel i need a stay in hospital, as my blood pressure must be throught the ceiling.

Anything else?

on arriving in morning the car park machines were out of order and was told to go through wall and get a ticket which i did it was a lot cheaper so asked on returning was that ok, the attendant became very rude and said that i had not paid enough and to pay more, he had not explained this which i told him and he said ok but pay again, iknow there is work in progress i hope to god that there will be privisons for parking when some one is having an operation and that it will be at a reasonalbe cost.

I do not complain very often but the i am so angry with the whole day i needed to let you know i feel..
