"The whole experience was an excellent..."

About: Wrightington Hospital

What I liked

From the time i had my first Out-patient appointment i was impressed by the experience. It was good to see the doctors and consultants in the admin area going through the patients notes before the clinic started, this made me believe that the doctor would have knowledge of my case before i saw the doctor.I was then sent for scans and x-rays were i had a minimum amount of time to wait and was dealt with by very professional staff.I was listed for an Arthroscopy and was attending the ward at 7.00am, as i arrived it was a hive of activity, i was met at the door by an auxilary nurse and shown to my bed, within a short space of time the preliminaries were done and i had met the anaesthetist and the consultant who both put my nerves at ease! The theatre staff were excellent especially the nurse who talked to me constantly to make me at ease, the doctor giving me the epidural was my hero as i did not feel a thing!! The consultant explained the whole procedure as i asked them if i could watch the op on the TV, i was amazed at the whole process. the recovery team were excellent also and did not let me back to the ward until they were satisfied i was ready, the nurse was very eager with suggestions for increasing production in the theatres and we had a very good conversation about it.

What could be improved

The only small thing i would suggest would be to spend some money on the corridors and heating as it was very cold being pushed on a bed along these areas.

Anything else?

I left the hospital with my Out-patient appointment in 6 weeks and a feeling that i would not be afraid to be a patient at Wrightington Hospital again.
