"Why I am being scolded for caring"

About: Derriford Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a relative),

I went into the A&E department at Derriford Hospital with my son in the early hours of the morning. I was concerned because he is two years old and was screaming in pain.

The nurse asked the normal questions so I didn't think too much was wrong. Then I get "advised" that because my child has been in A&E before, more then the average for different things, that I was a concern for social services. My child has gone into A&E four times where once he was given an operation for a condition.

Why is it that I then left the hospital feeling like I had been a burden and that I am being punished because I care about my child's wellbeing? People get punished because of neglect and because they care so where is the line drawn? Why are parents shut down for caring?

These questions need answers so other parents don't leave feeling they can't take care of their children. I don't want any other parents to feel like I felt and that I was doing the wrong thing because I care.

I hope my story is the only one you receive like this, and mine was a one-off incident.
