What I liked

During my stay staff at the Cumberland Infirmary were, without exception, friendly, attentive and helpful. The wards were also clean and bright and the medical staff took the time to explain the procedures properly. I have had a number of medical interventions over the past few years (including one other at the Cumberland) and this is definitely the best hospital environment I have experienced.

The paramedics who attended me were also fantastic and successfully diagnosed my condition even before the arrival of the mountain rescue.

What could be improved

The only improvement I can think of would be to knock Royal Lancaster Infirmary down and replace it with the Cumberland Infirmary. The former is an example of everything bad about the NHS, the latter an example of how things can be done within the same system.
