What could be improved

The nursing staff in 6 North need to be improved. My brother needs full care but the nursing staff did not seem to notice when his condition got worse or that he needs to be cleaned. He suffers from chest infections and they did not even notice when his chest was congested.

He had a nose tube to help him feed yet one visit I discovered that his feed tube was not connected. He contracted MRSA and also a pressure sore from an earlier visit this year. I continually asked for a pressure mattress but one was not available.

When you try and talk to many of the nursing staff they act as if you are a nuisance to them. I understand that they are busy but it is part of their job to be understanding and caring and they are not. I also get the feeling that they are not fully trained as they often look as if they do not know what they are doing. Some also have a very poor use of English. I'm sorry I have to say this but it needs to be addressed.

Anything else?

Because of my brother's condition I know that he will have to return to this awful hospital. Every time he has been there it has been a trauma for him and me as his next- of- kin, as you are left to feel helpless, frustrated and angry.

His nursing home told me that he always returns to them in a very poor state.
