About: University College Hospital

What could be improved

The appointments system is cahotic - consultant booking system does not appear to integrate into general off-site booking system. I spent hours chasing up appointments to check they were definately booked - this added to my stress levels and is something I have certainly never experienced in any other maternal unit

I am sorry to hear of the difficulties you have faced in our maternity service with you appointments and the stress that our administrative processes have caused. The briefness of your comments makes it difficult for me to fully recognise where the problems occurred. I have passed on your comment to our midwifery lead for antenatal and community care so that we can review where issues may be occurring. We are looking to invest in a system where midwives who are seeing women in the community have electronic "schedules" that will synchronize with the main hospital booking system. I have recently spoken to many other trusts in England and many are investigating similar solutions as they have the same issues. My sense is that your complaint may be aimed at this part of our process and if it is, I can assure you we are actively working on a solution.

If you would like any further information or we can be of help, please call our PALS office on 0207 380 9975 and tell them you would like to be contacted by the Divisional Manager of Women's Health.
