"Please use a more relevant name for the revamped NGH"

About: Campus for Ageing and Vitality Newcastle PCT

(as a relative),

I am unhappy about the new name for the Newcastle General Hospital Centre for Ageing and Health, or Ageing and Vitality as 'Look North' called it.

A lot of the patients attending the Diabetes Centre and the Nutritional Centre, and I'm sure other departments, are not at the 'ageing' end of the spectrum. They are young!

Would Newcastle General Clinic reflect its new status rather better and keep the old name partly alive? It means a lot to a lot of people. (Ageing and Vitality sounds like a Royal Mail/Consignia mistake to me!).

Please rethink the name and let it be all encompassing for younger as well as older patients - we older people know we are ageing and that's life, but I'm sure the young don't want appointments at an 'ageing' centre! To be honest I think it sounds like an attempt to find a new term for geriatrics.

I have a relative who has been brilliantly treated at the NGH and at the other Newcastle Hospitals over the years.
