"urgent surgery for a stomac perforation"

About: St Thomas' Hospital (London)

What I liked

My patner was taken to A&E by ambulance after having strong stomac .Once there I was quickly admitted, quickly seen. Even before seeing a doctor, the nurse saw my partner was really in pain, and gave him pain killer. English isnt our first language, all the team tried to explain us everything in a way we can anderstand. Most of the nurses are great, brillant, always ready to listen to us, put his mind at rest. Doctor was really efficient, reassuring, and once again took take to listen to us and answered our "silly" worries.

What could be improved

The ambulance took more than an hour and half to arrive, which meant my partner was in pain on the floor of covent garden. The paramedic was supposed to arrive in less than 15min. In the A&E, unable to walk, my partner neded to urinate. I ask a woman for a bottle, but she answered that she is a doctor not a nurse, so i turned to a nurse who answered it was not her section!

This is very helpful to know, thank you. We are not responsible for providing emergency ambulance services, but your comment about the bottle is important. As far as we are concerned what should come first is the patient's interest, not the job description of the member of staff they ask for help.
