"very dissapointed in the nurses - but..."

About: Croydon University Hospital

What I liked

My Husband was seen quickly/immediately onced we had booked him into A&E - he was suffering from his asthma and could not breath very well.

What could be improved

the nurses were not very polite and in fact were pretty rude. we have expereinced this same thing so many time at this hospital and i think it is a total disgrace to the profession. the nurses come across as not being bothered, rude, lazy and if you ask a simple question they are very defensive!

one example i can remember is that my husband was put on a nebulizer but the nurse had not connected it together properly. my husband turned his head and the medicine dropped out of it. the nurse told him 'don't touch it, stop touching it'. He had not touched anything he had merely moved his head to the side.

another example - some sort of instrument was placed on his finger - i think it is to read his pulse rate. because he was unwell he was natuarlly shaking. he was told 'keep still keep your hand still' _ we told the nurse he is trying to keep it still but he;s unwell and can't stop shaking.

what is wrong with these nurses. they need to go back to nursing school and learn some manners and drop the attitude.

Anything else?

I can only repeat the some of the nurses are very rude and defensive when they should be showing more care and compassion. It's almost as if they don;t really care - they are just there to earn some money - it's very upsetting to be treated the way they do

and i repeat this has not just happened on one visit - we have been to mayday on a number of occasions and it is always the same
