"Worst nightmare ever"

About: Watford General Hospital

What I liked

My GP rang the Acute Admissions Department at Watford Hospital (I was sitting beside them in the Surgery when they did )and my GP said they were expecting me.

On my arrival I gave the Receptionist from my GP and told them that my GP had rung.

They tapped into their computer, shrugged their shoulders and said "Sorry - Dont know anything about you ! "

They tried paging the On Call Doctor, but got no answer - they said "he's been ignorring his pager all day !"

In the meantime, a lady came over and said a man had just collapsed on the floor in their waiting area. The Receptionist just shrugged their shoulders and said "Oh well he has been waiting a very long time" !, then continued talking to me saying that I would have to go to the Main Accident and Emergency Department. They were very rude and still the man who had collapsed was ignored !.

I went over to the main Accident and Emergency Department and the Receptionist was also rude saying that there was a 5 hour wait !.

There was no where to sit - the waiting room was full. People standing everywhere. I was feeling very ill, and couldnt stand. They just didnt care.

I left and asked my husband to take me to QE II Hospital Welwyn Garden City where I explained what had happened at Watford and asked if they would see me there.

They were very nice and polite and said no problem. I was seen within 30 minutes of arriving and received very good service and treatment from all the staff.

I would never ever go to Watford Hospital again!

What could be improved

Everything

Anything else?

when you are feeling ill, you want to be treated with care. This does not happen at Watford.
