What I liked
I have been attending the RLHIM since 2004 after being referred there by the Breast Clinic at Barts where I underwent surgery and radiotherapy for breast cancer. The excellent cancer specialist I have been seeing at the RLHIM recommended that I take an extract which is used to stimulate the immune system, kill cancer cells and help reduce tumour size. It is also believed to help improve the quality of life and survival of some cancer patients, especially those using chemo and radiation, and may help reduce pain and side effects of these treatments. I have been cancer-free since 2004 and am convinced that this medicine which I believe is only available on the NHS from the RLHIM, has contributed to my current wellbeing. I also believe that the use of homeopathic remedies generally mitigated the adverse effects of the surgery and radiation treatment I had.
This hospital provides an excellent person-centred service which should be more generally available within the NHS.
What could be improved
I have occasionally had to wait up to half an hour or more to get my prescription from the pharmacy (though not on the most recent occasion).
