What I liked
The ward sister was one of the few staff who seemed able to communicate in more than "I don't know/care" terms.
What could be improved
The lack of communications from doctor/doctor,doctor/nurse, doctor/nurse to patients and relatives was appalling;mum spent a fortnight without us seeing a doctor or nurse who could tell us what was happening. On the first ward she was allocated to, the staff were positively unhelpful, refusing to give Mum a new pad as "I'm off duty in 15 minutes, it'll be the night staff's problems.
Mum has been home a week already, but apart from a District Nurse visit, not available until next week, no-one has made any contact with my Dad, who is a fit and optimistic 81 but who will need much more help to care for Mum at home.
A year ago I had faith in Kings Mill; faith has gone out of the window after this farce.
"The ward sister was one of the few staff..."
