"Good experience of Sentinel, but no appointment letter"

About: Sentinel Healthcare Southwest Community Interest Company / Referral & Appointment Booking Team

(as the patient),

I was referred by my GP for an outpatient appointment and in our area we use a service called Sentinel to manage these bookings. I want to give some feedback on this service.

Firstly I was contacted very rapidly by the service which was great - within a day or so of seeing my GP.

When I phoned back the lady who dealt with my booking was also great - she was polite, efficient and helpful; and she went through my choices for care clearly and concisely.

I booked an appointment at my local hospital for a time and date that suited me and this again felt great - as I was given clear choices, and felt that my needs were being met.

In summary Sentinel appears to be a great service.

The only downside is that I never recieved a letter from the hospital confirming my appointment in writing, and I am unclear where that responsibility lies.

Response from Neil Parsons, Business Manager , Clinical Assessment and Treatment Services, Sentinel Healthcare

Dear PeterRudge

Thank you for your opinion about your recent positive experience of being referred and using Sentinel Healthcare SouthWest CiC clinical assessment service. I'm glad you felt your experience was positive and you were given a choice of hospitals.

You also highlighted in your post that you did not receive a confirmation letter for your appointment. The hospital where your appointment was based should have sent this to you, if you can let me know where this was then I can forward this to them and check that confirmation letters are being issued?

Once again thank you for your comments and please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.
