What I liked
My brief stay in the hospital (ward 4) for my TKR was without doubt although at times physically exacting, it was made all the more comfortable by the team on that ward.
I was amazed at the efficiency of the staff and their dedication to duty of care for the people in their care. Each of them went about their tasks in an assured professional manner whilst retaining compassionate and very human qualities.
Seven weeks into rehabilitation I am now walking freely post physiotherapy at North Tees, who discharged me after only 4 visits. I am now attending a referral class of advanced physio at Billingham Sportsdrome for 12 weeks
What could be improved
On my visit I only briefly remember theatre! as was my X-ray dept. appearance under the care of the porters. No complaints there, likewise for my stay on ward 4.
Food was adequate but somehow my appetite was reduced during the time I was with you. I think that is due to the level of my inactivity.
Anything else?
If there was a national award for a particular unit in a hospital, this ward would get my nomination for all round teamwork, professionalism, efficiency, dedication, compassion, along with all the categories too many to think of or list here.
