"I've been a far too frequent visitor to..."

About: The Royal London Hospital

What I liked

I've been a far too frequent visitor to the outpatients department, phlebotomy area, renal ward and more recently, ante-natal wards and facilities - and the friendliness and knowledge of staff - from reception desks to consultants is excellent.

Text reminders for appointments are useful.

What could be improved

The hospital is terribly old in part, for example, the Maternal Fetal Assessment Unit is in the basement, and not a particularly pleasant walk.

Very long waits to see consultants, despite appointment times - but, all is forgiven once you're in the room, and it's best to just assume you'll be there longer than expected.

Anything else?

Look forward to the new block opening (although there's something reassuring about the age of the hospital building).

Thank you for taking the time to give your feedback. We appreciate your positive words about our staff and recognising the hard work they put in serving our patients. We are glad you were impressed by their friendliness and the excellent quality care given by our consultants. Your kind comments will be shared with all relevant staff.

We are also pleased to hear that you found the new text message reminder service useful.

With regards to your comments about the hospital environment, we’d like to reassure you that when the new The Royal London hospital opens in late 2011 and early 2012 the new buildings will dramatically improve the hospital experience for patients and visitors. The hospital environment has been designed to be safe, welcoming and healing, and wards will be spacious, light and airy, with separate facilities for men and women.
