"Children's hospital - could we have art?"

About: Royal Manchester Children's Hospital

(as the patient),

The buildings good, it doesn't smell like hospitals usually do!

It's not always the most organised, sometimes you can be waiting here for the staff to find your notes for ages even though your appointments been booked for months.

Staff are friendly, i normally see a doctor. They tell me to come in every 8 weeks for mid morning but I'm often not seen for my transfusion until early afternoon. The staff are quite good, occasionally dizzy!

I'm 16 years old, I have Crohns disease. I'm into art and every time I come to Royal Manchester i think that there could be brighter artwork on the walls, especially behind the reception. Considering it's a children's hospital, it's a bit dull.

Thank you for your comments.

We're really pleased that you find the staff friendly and that you like the building.

It can be frustrating waiting around for transfusions to start and we are aware of this - we do our best to get patients seen as quickly as possible.

Your comments about the artwork are really interesting. I took your comments to a recent meeting of the Ambulatory Care Directorate - these are the people who manage Outpatients. There are now plans in place for artwork to be commissioned for the foyer and possibly into Outpatients as well. I am going to contact the person in charge of this project to try and find out some more information about this - I'll post on here when I find out more.

Thanks.
