"It would be great to have a vending machine at Manchester Children's"

About: Royal Manchester Children's Hospital

(as the patient),

I get bored waiting sometimes. I like the table football.

The facilities are good. It would be great to have a vending machine in outpatients.

They do the needles gently for taking blood.

The staff are funny.

Thank you for your comments.

We are pleased that you like the facilities and that your blood is taken as gently as possible. The staff were also very pleased to hear that you like their jokes!

Regarding the vending machines: I took your comments to a recent meeting of the Ambulatory Care Directorate (the people who manage Outpatients). Unfortunately we are not going to be able to put a vending machine in Outpatients. There is already a newsagents directly opposite the doors to outpatients and also a coffee shop and the hospital restaurant just down the corridor. We are happy for you to leave outpatients to go and buy some food - if you just let one of the nurses know before you go then they'll make sure you don't miss your appointment. The Directorate realises that it could be better at giving patients information to make sure they know that they can pop out to buy some food while they're waiting and so this will now go in the next newsletter to patients.

Thanks again.
