What I liked
i was admitted to the Assessment Ward (Mental Health Unit) - i felt the induction and care from the main nurses and staff was appalling, there was little interaction with myself or the other patients. Generally sit in the TV Lounge and watch tv or fall asleep - thankfully i was there for less than 24 hours because i did not feel it was a place to help.
But i would like to highlight the outstanding work by one of the Support Workers. He had obviously made notes during his handover and engaged with myself very easily and allowed me time to talk about how i was feeling and also giving some pointers (not advice) in the way forward around different services out there etc. Without his input i would have felt very excluded and probably would have remained on the ward for further assessments. He was positive and demonstrated a great skill in communicating with people.
i cannot thank him enough.
What could be improved
