(as the patient),

There is a shop in Ravenswood medium secure unit. I think you should franchise the shop out to run as a business with proper opening times and varied stock which could lead to better patient quality of life. Profit from the shop could be divided between the trusts via Patients Funds (ward based) and the operator. There are various funds available to businesses for the disabled.

If no one wants to do it, I will!

The service manager for Ravenswood has made the following comments about this feedback:

"The shop was set up and is run and owned by the League of Friends. Due to the restricted customer base the turnover would not make it a viable financial enterprise to any commercial organisation.

The shop helps with work experience as part of the recovery programme for some of the service users in the unit. Employment opportunities in the community are strictly limited due to the nature of the restrictions imposed by the Home Office.

The League of Friends give Christmas presents to the service users in Ravenswood. They also assist in providing specific items to service users when approached. Therefore service users benefit in many ways by having the shop managed as it is."
