"Missed diagnosis at Whiston A&E"

About: Whiston Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a carer),

I took my daughter of 13 months to Whiston A&E after my doctor referred her, as she couldn't walk properly and her knee was hot and swollen.

I sat there for about 2 hours before a doctor saw her. She was then asked to go for a scan and then come back to discuss the results.

When i came back with her they said she was fine and couldn't find nothing and she was getting referred to Alder Hey. So i left and waited.

I called 2 days later to find out whether she had an appointment made but they said to phone Alder Hey. I phoned Alder Hey who had no record of an appt to be made.

I then waited another day and finally decided to take her to Alder Hey as she was really distressed and refused to walk or move her leg. Later that evening she was admitted to Alder Hey with a bad case of septic arthritis and we spent a week there.

How could the doctors in A&E miss this? I am not going to Whiston again, who knows what they could miss next time?
