"Nothing."

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske)

What I liked

Nothing.

What could be improved

Where do i start?. The treatment my dad recieved was shocking and appaling from start to finish. He was admitted for a colostomy after being diagnosed with colon cancer (which took 2 years to diagnose). Firstly he was told they would be removing the tumour only to then be told by someone else just before the operation that it was in fact inoperable, which was very distressing.

Unfortunately he went in for his operation on a Friday afternoon before a bank holiday weekend. This meant he was abandoned following major surgery for 4 days in a terrible state. They were unable to manage his pain at all to the point he was writhing in agony and everyone on the ward was pressing their call buttons to get him help but no nurses came.

His colostomy bag burst twice in that time because noone checked it for him and he was unfit to do it his-self. Once they didn't clean it up properly and he was left overnight covered in faeces with open wounds. I could go on a lot longer but it is upsetting going over it again. It was a catalogue of disgraceful negligence.

When he had to go back in due to excruciating abdominal pain he was left for hours in agony without being offered any pain relief or even seeing a nurse.

Consultants are rude and obnoxious.

Patient dignity is non-existent.

Anything else?

It was terrifying to leave my Dad in this hospital. I was sure they were going to kill him, so much so i moved them out of Cornwall to live with me in Somerset so they could get treatment in Bristol.
