"MAU was clean and tidy but communication..."

About: Hinchingbrooke Hospital

What I liked

MAU was clean and tidy but communication was appalling.

What could be improved

Documentation was not kept up to date and how 2 pieces of paperwork can record different stats when it was only done the once. I was handed my identity bracelet and told to put it on myself. I was admitted with right sided weakness and therefore could not do it and it was down to my partner to do it. I had to wait for over an hour to get pillow for my bed and they were not overly busy either.

Some nurses spoke down to me and some did not even make it to my bedside to tell me information instead stood at the door of the bay shouting it to me and other patients were in the bay at the time. Not exactly privacy, dignity, respect let alone confidentiality (NMC).

I also feel that lack of communication is poor in MAU between nurses and doctors. The lack of telling patients information of what is going on.

We are very disappointed to hear of your experience. We take all feedback and comments seriously and endeavour to always provide a good patient experience and clearly this was not the case in this instance. I would encourage you to contact our Patient Advice Liaison Services Manager on telephone 01480 428964 or by email to pals@hinchingbrooke.nhs.uk so that we can speak to you directly about your experience.
