"The promise of an ability to choose an..."

About: Sunderland Royal Hospital

What I liked

The promise of an ability to choose an appointment that would be convenient for my family member and myself.

What could be improved

I have tonight used the choose and book system to book an appointment on line for a family member- the second time I have had to do this. The first appointment was for an orthopaedic appointment and the second for a rheumatology appointment. On both ocassions I have been provided with the choice of appointments- for both appointments there has been no choice of date merely a choice of time and not even a morning or afternoon choice but just a half hour time difference.

Anything else?

In order to ensure patients do not miss an appointment let them truly choose a date and time. I realise that I would be restricted to the day of the week a clinic runs but showing me a screen with one date only and then 09.00 or 09.30 is not a choice- there is not even a button to seek an alternative date.

Thank you for your comments. City Hospitals has a set amount of appointment slots which we are working to increase to ensure that patients do have a proper choice. I am sorry that on this occasion we were unable to offer you an approriate choice.
