What I liked

The fact I was getting the operation.Pre op I was given all the information I required from those concerned and had complete confidence in the outcome.

What could be improved

Post op at no time did I get any advice on after care no one told me to take any care in what I should do ie neck movements/ lifting/exercises/having a bath/driving/sort of time scale thatI could expect some sort of relief or get back to near normal.If I had not asked no Physio was due to come and see me,in fact I sorted that out myself.Just a pamphlet with some do`s and dont`s and basic exercises would at least have helped.

Nothing was said about a return visit for a check up it`s now into the 4th week and I still haven`t heard anything.

We are very sorry to hear that you have not received post-operative advice that you would have found helpful, many of our services do provide a range of patient information, but if there are gaps or patients are not being provided with this we would wish to address this.

It is difficult for us to address your specific concerns without knowing further details, although we will raise this as a general issue with all the services based at Newcastle General Hospital. The Patient Relations Manager, Mr Paul Anderson would be very happy to take further details so we can ensure the clinical team who provided your care review their post operative patient information.
