(as the patient),

Though a member of the Rotherham Doncaster & South Humber MH Trust, their waiting list for psychotherapy was so long I was referred to Sheffield. I have been attending for just over 2 years.

I have nothing but respect and praise for the staff I see and have encountered only very high professional standards - unlike my experience in Rotherham, I might add.

Psychotherapy isn't easy but to anyone worried about undertaking it in Sheffield, I can't imagine anywhere better.

My only quibble has been cross-trust difficulties in communication, this between RDaSH consultants and CMHTs, Rotherham Hospital Trust & my GP, with Sheffield psychotherapy being consistently left out of the loop despite requests to the contrary.

Thank you for your feedback about the availability of Psychological Therapies in Rotherham. I am pleased to hear that the service provided through the Trust, and accessed in Sheffield, is of a high standard.

At the time of referral, two years ago, Psychological Therapy services to Rotherham were provided by Sheffield. However, psychological therapies, including psychotherapy are now provided directly by RDaSH. This will reduce cross Trust communication difficulties, such as described in your own experience, and has resulted in a significant reduction in waiting times.
