"I am appalled that the dermatology unit is to close "

About: Nottinghamshire County Teaching PCT / Keyworth surgical dermatology service

(as the patient),

I was referred to Dr Schroff at Keyworth Medical Centre Nottingham for treatment of several BCCs

Initial consultation was thorough, the treatment prompt and efficient- the after care first class.

Dr Schroff and his nurse could not have been more helpful or supportive.

He put me at my ease right at the beginning of the treatment and kept me informed throughout.

My experience was positive at each stage of the procedure. There was no pain, the stitching was excellent and the wounds healed within weeks leaving only the faintest of scars.

I am appalled that the dermatology unit is to close especially as I still have some still to do.

How can this be after winning an award for excellence only last year ?

There is no car parking problem, the centre is light and airy, the reception staff welcoming and helpful. Appointments are kept on time without fail.

The nursing staff pleasant and efficient. Everyone speaks highly of it. If it closes it will be sorely missed.

A very recent patient

This is to confirm that, with effect from 9th July 2010, Keyworth Medical Practice will no longer be offering a surgical dermatology service for low risk BCCs in Keyworth. This is obviously a shame for the patients of Principia as it has been a valued service which was much more accessible to our population. The decision has been reluctantly taken by Keyworth as the national tariff price for this type of work has significantly reduced and therefore it is no longer an economically viable service to offer to the number of patients who meet the criteria to be seen under the new NICE guidance. All patients who are currently under their care will complete their treatment with Keyworth.
