"nothing much one or two exceptional..."

About: Blackpool Victoria Hospital

What I liked

nothing much one or two exceptional midwifes/nurses at the delivery suite and ward B.

What could be improved

cleaner enviroment, hot enough water to use birthing pool, some staff very rude in ward B, more staff to help the overworked nurses temperature controll in room 5 of the delivery suite it`s far too hot.

Anything else?

my girlfriend requested she used the birthing pool. When we got into room 5 we was then told that we carnt use it as the water couldnt get hot enough to be able to use .OK not a problem, we stayed in that room for aprox 20+ hours whilst she was in labour. The room was really hot cos of course it was to stop the baby`s getting cold. Granted! but the pool wasn`t working so why could they not turn the temperature down?I took ages for my baby to become 9 cm dialated and after a failed epidural my girlfriend was in agony. My baby was stuck in the birth canal being born face up. The doctor decided that both girlfriend and baby were getting to distressed so emergency c-section it was. They topped up the so called epidural and proceeded. I was there at the operation and my girlfriend seemed in agony she puffed the gas and are like no tomorrow, We ended up with a beautifull baby girl, the surgen`s stiched up and to the recovery room we went. When in the ward a nurse noticed something not right and sent my girlfriend back down to the delivery suite where an anethasist noticed low blood pressure and high pulse rate, He administered 2 pints of blood and a iv drip. Everything returned to normal and i said goodnight to her and baby and went home. 2 hours later i got called back and was told she was back in theater to due to complications and to expect the worst. I got to the hospital to be told that she had a further 14 pints of blood transfused. Due to 2 veins being punctured her womb damaged and cut a hole in her bladder which led to internal bleeding. They sent her to the high dependancy unit and looked after her for a few days. Then she went to ward B where it wasn`t clean, under staffed, not helpfull, and to top it off they took her stomach drain and staples out to early leaving her with a gaping wound which had taped sanitary towels over the top. They didnt help my girlfriend with baby and told her to deal with it cos there was15 other girls on the ward
